CO2E (equivalent carbon dioxide) is a unit of measurement used to express the environmental impact of different sources of greenhouse gas emission in terms of equivalent quantity of carbon dioxide (CO2). CO2E is often used to compare the environmental impact of different sources of greenhouse gas emission, regardless of the type of greenhouse gas emitted.

The CO2E is calculated using a specific emission factor for each greenhouse gas, which represents the global warming power of that gas compared to CO2. For example, methane (CH4) has an emission factor of 28, which means that a ton of methane emitted has the same environmental impact of 28 tons of CO2.
