LEED stands for Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design. It is a certification system for sustainable building design and construction. Developed by the US Green Building Council, LEED provides a set of requirements and standards for the design, construction, and operation of green buildings, aimed at improving energy efficiency, reducing environmental impact, and enhancing the quality of life for users. LEED uses a score based on a range of categories, including water, energy, materials, safety and occupant well-being. Buildings that meet LEED requirements can earn a certification, which attests to their sustainability and provides official recognition of their environmental performance.
