Business ethics is the set of principles and values that guide the decisions and actions of a company. Business ethics may include social responsibility, integrity, transparency, and respect for human rights.

Companies that adopt ethical practices can contribute to creating a positive impact on society and the environment, and can also benefit from a better reputation and customer loyalty, as well as greater attraction and retention of employees.

Business ethics can be promoted through the creation of codes of conduct, employee training, and communication of ethical policies to all stakeholders. Additionally, companies can demonstrate their commitment to ethical practices through the adoption of corporate social responsibility practices.

It should not be confused with corporate social responsibility: while business ethics concerns the fundamental principles of the company, CSR concerns the implementation of its values into actions.
