Fluorinated gases are a family of synthetic gases used in a wide range of industrial activities, such as the production of refrigerants, insulation foam, propellants, and Teflon-based products. These gases are potent global warming agents as they have a very high heat retention power. When released into the atmosphere, fluorinated gases can persist for decades or centuries, thus contributing to the increase in global temperatures. Fluorinated gases have been identified as one of the main contributors to climate change, therefore, many countries have developed policies to limit their production and use.
